Daily Devotionals

Would you like to read the Word daily, but don’t know how to begin? Reading our Daily Devotionals is a good way to develop the habit of studying the scriptures.

December 26

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love (1 John 4:18, NIV).

Jesus ushered in a change from the old, fear-based covenant to the new, love-based covenant. In the Old Testament, we read about the fear of the Lord, but Jesus is love personified; He has freed us from fear, condemnation, and punishment.

For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens” (2 Corinthians 5:1).

We are not our bodies; our physical body serves as our tabernacle, or house, while we’re still on earth. When we die and leave our body, a tabernacle made by God awaits us.

O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever! Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He has delivered from the hand of the adversary (Psalm 107:1, 2, AMPC).

When we have God’s wisdom, we can look back on our lives and see His hand in every situation we’ve ever faced. When we trust Him, He delivers us from our adversary, the devil, no matter what happens. We can joyfully give thanks for God’s unfailing love, mercy, and compassion.

The rod and rebuke give wisdom, But a child left to himself brings shame to his mother. Correct your son, and he will give you rest; Yes, he will give delight to your soul (Proverbs 29: 15, 17, NKJV).

Parents have a biblical responsibility to raise their children according to God’s Word. As Christians, how we train the next generation has a major impact on the world for good or bad.

December 23

Far better to take refuge in God than trust in people; Far better to take refuge in God than trust in celebrities (Psalm 118:8, 9, MSG).

We have a choice about who to trust when trouble arises. If we trust in celebrities or “experts,” they can let us down. If we trust in the God who made heaven and earth and who sacrificed His only Son for us, He won’t let us down.

December 22

He who is often rebuked, and hardens his neck, Will suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy (Proverbs 29:1, NKJV).

Just like our earthly parents, God chastises, corrects, and guides us through His Holy Spirit. When we’re wise enough to listen, His guidance will save our lives.
