Daily Devotionals

Would you like to read the Word daily, but don’t know how to begin? Reading our Daily Devotionals is a good way to develop the habit of studying the scriptures.

January 23

Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have” (Luke 24:39).

After His resurrection, Jesus had a glorified body; this gives us a glimpse of what our bodies will be like when we get to heaven. We’ll have the same kind of physical body He has.

January 22

Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God” (1 John 4:15).

Faith in Jesus as God’s only Son is an integral part of the covenant of grace. Trusting in Him makes us one with Him.

January 21

And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ” (2 Thessalonians 3:5).

While we wait for Jesus to come back, we can live our lives directed and governed by God’s love. This is completely different than under the old covenant in which the peoples’ lives were directed by a long list of rules and regulations.

January 20

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).

The Spirit of God gives us boldness and confidence, and equips us to live life to the fullest. While others live in fear, believers enjoy the power and authority only God can give.

January 19

Having cancelled and blotted out and wiped away the handwriting of the note (bond) with its legal decrees and demands which was in force and stood against us (hostile to us). This [note with its regulations, decrees, and demands] He set aside and cleared completely out of our way by nailing it to [His] cross” (Colossians 2:14, AMPC).

Living life in the Spirit instead of under the law means we don’t have to fear God’s wrath like the people did under the old covenant. Jesus completely revoked the law when He shed His blood on the cross.

January 18

Besides, who would patch old clothing with new cloth? For the new patch would shrink and rip away from the old cloth, leaving an even bigger tear than before” (Matthew 9:16, NLT).

For best results, when living under the covenant of grace, we must completely abandon attempts to hang on to any aspect of the old and fully embrace the new. Mixing the two covenants will produce no results.
