How to Sort Out the Drama Life Brings
Summary
Life has a way of throwing adversity at us at the most inopportune times. It’s unreasonable to expect our lives to always be smooth and free of trouble and trauma; we therefore must be prepared to handle situations as they arise. Some people seem to create dramatic situations where there are none because of the way they think; however, as free moral agents, we have the choice of whether or not to accept the drama. We avoid turbulence and find peace by allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us in this area, point out our problematic thinking and behavior, and help us correct it..

How to Grow in Grace
Summary
Maturing spiritually and becoming more like Jesus should be every Christian’s goal. He is grace; we therefore need the Holy Spirit’s help in transforming us because we cannot do it alone. Our starting point is a personal relationship with Christ; knowing Him results in gradually increasing levels of maturity. A practical understanding of growing in grace hinges on realizing that it happens over time. We must know what it means to receive it ourselves, so that we can give it to others; we can also use the times others hurt us to grow in grace and in forgiveness. We grow spiritually by living our daily lives, coming into contact with others, and depending on God to teach us how to respond. It’s vital that we make an impact on the world; growing in grace so that we can be more like Jesus enables us to do that.

It’s Time to Grow Up
Summary
The biggest issue facing the church today is one of immaturity. Although new Christians are still spiritually immature, they are not to stay that way. In the body of Christ, growth won’t occur until the spiritual leaders reach a point of maturity so that they can teach the Word to others. God wants to bless us, but He needs for us to develop and mature, first, for that to happen. Signs of spiritual maturity include an ability and a willingness to forgive others and love them unconditionally; too many saved Christians haven’t yet reached that point. This is an impossible goal for us unless we rely on the Holy Spirit to work in us, change us, and make us more like God. Focusing only on Jesus, who is grace, matures us.

Living Life on a Divine Plane
Summary
There is a divine level of life that we can live only through the discipline of grace. This kind of life requires the presence of the Holy Spirit, who teaches us God’s morals and helps us do things that are impossible through our own human ability. He wants to take us to a higher plane that can only be lived on the supernatural level. God will never leave us after He saves us; He stays in us and continues working in us until we begin seeing positive changes in ourselves. As believers, our dependence on the Holy Spirit to teach us morality and godliness sets us apart from others who depend on their own efforts. Developing and deepening a relationship with the Holy Ghost enables Him to lead and guide us through every situation we encounter, while teaching us the kind of lifestyle that reflects who we are in Christ.

How to Develop in Spiritual Maturity
Summary
To grow as Christians, we must not be afraid of trouble. Our level of maturity is not linked to how long we have been saved; rather going through situations is what matures us and makes us stronger. The process of maturing hinges on our willingness to let pressure mold and shape us to improve our character, our love, and our relationships. The purpose of tribulation is to authenticate our faith in Christ. To mature, it is essential to depend on God, not on ourselves, to make us more like Him. One sign that we are moving away from immaturity and toward selflessness is that we want to please God instead of ourselves. Trusting in the Holy Spirit to change us from the inside out makes this possible.

Don’t Be Afraid of Trouble (Part 2)
Summary
Most people try to avoid adversity and suffering, but there’s a reason for everything that happens. Relying on God when trouble shows up allows Him to mature us, strengthening and preparing us for our assignment. It’s inevitable that we’ll encounter trouble in our lives; however, nothing great ever happens without going through a situation. Moving out of immaturity changes our thinking until we no longer walk in unforgiveness or self-righteousness or mistreat others. Christian maturity calls for a radical reorganization of our priorities, from pleasing ourselves to pleasing God. Faith in His promises causes us to grow and develop, so that we become blessed to be a blessing to others. Not running away from the painful, difficult times brings us to progressively higher levels in which God can use us powerfully.
