Daily Devotionals

Would you like to read the Word daily, but don’t know how to begin? Reading our Daily Devotionals is a good way to develop the habit of studying the scriptures.

“And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation” (2 Corinthians 5:18).

Words are powerful; they can either divide and separate people or unite them. Words of reconciliation bring people back together and heal broken relationships.

“Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge” (James 4:11).

We must be aware of a critical spirit that leads us to judge others. Under grace, we’re now living by God’s law of love; overlooking others’ flaws helps us to resist the temptation to criticize.

“There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all” (1 Corinthians 12:4-7, NKJV).

As believers, we’re all united as one in the body of Christ, although God has blessed each of us individually with unique talents, gifts, and abilities. We are to remember where those talents and abilities came from, and use them to glorify God.

“For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ” (Galatians 1:10, NKJV).

Our motives matter to God. Living to please others prevents Him from working in our lives; living to please God, regardless of what others think, allows Him to intervene in everything that concerns us and to use us powerfully.

“And above all things have fervent love for one another, for ‘love will cover a multitude of sins’” (1 Peter 4:8, NKJV).

Unlike what we see in the world, godly friendships are marked by unselfish love. This kind of love chooses to overlook the other person’s mistakes and flaws, and instead focuses on their good qualities.

“For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints” (1 Corinthians 14:33).

Religion has given us a distorted view of what it means to be a saint. God considers us saints when we accept His Son and make Him our Lord and Savior; the knowledge of this cuts through the confusion and gives us peace.
