Daily Devotionals

Would you like to read the Word daily, but don’t know how to begin? Reading our Daily Devotionals is a good way to develop the habit of studying the scriptures.

October 4

“There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all” (1 Corinthians 12:4-7, NKJV).

As believers, we’re all united as one in the body of Christ, although God has blessed each of us individually with unique talents, gifts, and abilities. We are to remember where those talents and abilities came from, and use them to glorify God.

“For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ” (Galatians 1:10, NKJV).

Our motives matter to God. Living to please others prevents Him from working in our lives; living to please God, regardless of what others think, allows Him to intervene in everything that concerns us and to use us powerfully.

“And above all things have fervent love for one another, for ‘love will cover a multitude of sins’” (1 Peter 4:8, NKJV).

Unlike what we see in the world, godly friendships are marked by unselfish love. This kind of love chooses to overlook the other person’s mistakes and flaws, and instead focuses on their good qualities.

October 1

“For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints” (1 Corinthians 14:33).

Religion has given us a distorted view of what it means to be a saint. God considers us saints when we accept His Son and make Him our Lord and Savior; the knowledge of this cuts through the confusion and gives us peace.

“Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer” (2 Timothy 2:3, 4, NIV).

Adversity and hardships eventually fall into every life, including ours; we must be prepared for that. However, we mustn’t avoid getting too bogged down in worldly issues; instead, we’re to stay tuned to the marching orders from God, our commander.

September 29

“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15, NKJV).

God has charged us with the all-important work of spreading the gospel, and as His workers, we must sow the seed of the His Word and scatter it everywhere. There’s nothing more honorable than letting God’s Spirit lead us in this mission.
