For the week of May 22, 2023 The Lifegiving Blood of Jesus

We all know that the blood in our bodies is essential to life, and that losing too much of it puts us in danger of bleeding to death. That’s on a physical level, but there’s also a spiritual side to this. Before we were even born, Jesus Christ bled to death on cross for us to ensure our salvation, forgiveness, and acceptance into heaven. His blood also provided for a successful, prosperous, victorious, life on earth; openly declaring this when trouble strikes gives us access to all of Jesus’ finished works.

Jesus willingly poured out His lifeblood so that we could enjoy our lives to the fullest, despite the enemy’s attempts to rob us of the joy God wants us to have. The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy; Jesus came that we might have life, and have it more abundantly. We speak life by pleading His blood over a bad situation that threatens to destroy us. Words can either kill or give life; we choose whether they’re poison or fruit.

Satan always stands ready to accuse us of wrongdoing; he tells us that God can’t—or won’t—forgive us for our sins. However, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. This cleansing is by the blood of Jesus, and was accomplished more than two thousand years ago. His blood of the New Testament was shed for many for the remission of sins.

It actually took Jesus’ blood to replace the law with grace and redeem our lives from the enemy’s grip. The knowledge of this carries the potential to completely shut down the devil; however, to get it to work we must load God’s Word into our mouths and speak it. As the redeemed of the Lord, we must say so; He has redeemed us from the hand of the enemy. The courage to boldly speak this positions us to live life on a higher level.

Prayer:

God, Your Son came to earth to pay for our sins and wrongdoings with His life. He offered His body and blood as the ultimate sin sacrifice for us all; believing this enough to speak it gives us great power. We’re thankful for this. In Jesus’ name, amen.
