For the week of May 15, 2023 The Blood That Gives Us Victory

We live in a fallen world. The evil and adversity we see around us come from Satan and his demons, who are hard at work causing pain, suffering, and destruction. However, because of the blood that Jesus shed, they’re defeated foes. Pleading the blood over everything they do paralyzes them and completely shuts them down.

The enemy hopes we don’t know that we’re already victorious over him. He’s betting that we’re ignorant of what the blood has done for us; he therefore does what he can to blind us to the truth of what God did. When he accuses us and says we’re no longer saved because of our sins, we can remind him that we’re the righteousness of God by the blood of Jesus. Although all have sinned, we’ve been justified by His grace and cleansed from sin by His blood.

Jesus paid the ultimate price to replace the law with grace. Under the law, sin called for the death sentence; under grace, Christ permanently settled that debt for all of us through His blood. He was offered once for all time as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many; He’ll come again, not to deal with sin, but to bring salvation to all who eagerly wait for Him.

We’re engaged in spiritual warfare with the enemy; like in physical warfare, blood is always shed in the battle. Thankfully, the blood that Jesus shed forever guaranteed victory in life for born-again believers. This news is too good to keep to ourselves; declaring it to the world—and to ourselves when we’re in the midst of a situation—help us to keep in mind that we’re on the winning side.

Prayer:

Lord, You defeated Satan long ago, and he knows it; however, he still resists his inevitable fate. Thankfully, when he attacks us, we can declare Your blood over the situation to render him powerless. We’re grateful for this. In Jesus’ name, amen.
