For the week of July 18, 2022 Reimagined Lives According to God’s Favor

Life, and how good or bad it seems, is influenced a great deal by our perception of it. The world sees life as a dreary set of circumstances to endure; however, the world doesn’t know Jesus. Believers see life through the lens of God’s grace, which reveals the joy and wonder others miss. Reimagining life according to what Jesus’ coming to earth accomplished gives us a brand-new perspective.

Imagination is the ability to visualize something in our minds that we can’t see with our physical eyes. Our thoughts and imaginations are powerful and can affect the direction of our lives. In Noah’s time, wickedness was rampant in the world because that was all the people thought of and imagined. Noah and his family were the only ones who thought and imagined according to God’s will.

Strong as our imaginations may be, however, using them to visualize something that’s against God’s will results in failure. When the people built the tower of Babel, God confounded their language; their efforts would have removed all restraints from doing whatever they imagined to do. It was a bad idea because they relied on self-effort to reach their goals, independent of God.

It isn’t God’s will for us to live in an evil world. When we believe this, we begin to imagine something better that we might not see at first but will eventually come to pass. We walk by faith, not by sight. As believers, we can use our imaginations to see God’s plans for us come to pass in our lives; His plans for us are for good, not evil, to give us a future and a hope.

Real and lasting prosperity and success come from aligning our thoughts with God’s thoughts. He wants us to prosper in all things. Imagining what He imagines for us gives us strength and ability that can’t be overcome.

Prayer:

Lord, You blessed us with imaginations so that we could share Your vision for us. Our imaginations give us the ability to visualize Your will want for us; we’re thankful for that. In Jesus’ name, amen.
