For the week of November 19, 2018 Letting the Holy Spirit Minister to Us

When we want to experience true success that will last and make a permanent difference for the better, we must turn to the Holy Spirit. Even after being born again, many Christians don’t understand the value of letting Him lead us through life and teach us what we need to know. Life has too many moving parts for us to expect to navigate it on our own. We need the Spirit as our unseen partner.

The Holy Spirit plays many roles. He comforts, guides, helps, teaches, and strengthens us, and intercedes with the Father on our behalf. He calls to remembrance what we’ve learned from the Scriptures. He also convinces us to believe on Jesus.

Unbelief in Christ and what He has done for us is a sin in itself, and the Spirit wants to help us avoid this sin at all costs. Before His crucifixion, Jesus told His disciples that the Holy Spirit would come to convict the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. The Spirit of truth guides us into all truth and tells us of things yet to happen.

The Spirit wasn’t sent to convict us to make us feel guilty or condemned when we make a mistake, but to convince us to believe on Jesus and what He made available to us through His death and resurrection. The Spirit’s mission is to convince us of our righteousness in Christ and the forgiveness we have from Him. God has written His law of love on our hearts and put it in our minds. Our sins He will remember no more.

We find peace and joy when we have a relationship with the Holy Spirit, who sheds God’s love abroad in our hearts. The Spirit was sent to administer the covenant of grace; submitting to Him allows Him to reveal deeper levels of God’s favor toward us than we could ever discern on our own. Letting Him minister to us brings breakthrough on every level.

Prayer:

God, You sent us Your Spirit of grace to convince us to believe in Your Son. His mission isn’t to make us feel bad, but to empower our lives and show us Your great love and compassion for us. We’re grateful for His presence. In Jesus’ name, amen.
