Supernatural Success

For some people, navigating life can be a confusing maze, filled with failure and frustration. What they may not realize is that everyone has at their disposal supernatural help to guarantee success. God has made available to us everything we need to succeed in life, if we simply let Him take the helm. When we acknowledge and accept how His grace applies to our lives, what was formerly a mystery to us will become clear.

Grace isn’t just a few words mumbled before a meal—it’s unearned, undeserved favor from God, given to us when we accept Jesus and develop a relationship with Him. Both believers and non-believers alike face challenges in life; the difference between the two groups is that God has equipped believers with everything they need to succeed. “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue” (2 Peter 1:3). The wisdom and direction grace provides is the rudder that keeps us on course.

Some people struggle feebly with a problem, only to fail, while others facing the same issue succeed powerfully. Grace enables people to break addictions to drugs, alcohol, or tobacco; overcome the compulsion to steal; and resist the tendency to gossip, and spread strife and discord. When we try to “go it alone,” our chances of success are questionable. However, asking for God’s help increases our success rate to one hundred percent. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1).

When we decide to give our problems over to God, we discover that eventually they won’t be problems any more. He takes away our old “want-tos” and replaces them with new “want-tos” that are pleasing to Him. “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure” (Philippians 2:13). The manifestations of this can include smokers who quit “cold turkey” without any withdrawal symptoms, alcoholics who walk away from liquor and never touch it again, and incurable gossips who suddenly lose all interest in talking trash.

Grace is the game-changer here; it’s more powerful than sin. When we acknowledge that we’re too weak on our own to stop doing what we know is wrong, God’s favor goes to work. He actually strengthens our weak areas. “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness…” (2 Corinthians 12:9).

What God wants us to have is something we can never earn. Our belief in His love for us positions us to receive it. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8, 9). Trusting in Him allows Him to elevate our lives on every level.

Life will always have its ups and downs; on our own, we can fall prey to discouragement, depression, and despair. God’s favor protects us from these negative emotions and equips us with what we need to live successfully. “For the grace of God (His unmerited favor and blessing) has come forward (appeared) for the deliverance from sin and the eternal salvation for all mankind. It has trained us to reject and renounce all ungodliness (irreligion) and worldly (passionate) desires, to live discreet (temperate, self-controlled), upright, devout (spiritually whole) lives in this present world” (Titus 2:11, 12, AMPC). All we need to do is accept what He’s offering us.
