Receive a Supernatural Response from God

Taken by themselves, the words “It is finished” may not mean much. However, putting them in the context of what Jesus did on the cross gives them the power to transform our lives. Most people ask God to do what has already been done, instead of having faith in Jesus’ finished works. Regardless of what we need in our lives, trusting in Christ and in the power of His actions two thousand years ago opens the door to supernatural responses to our requests.

God has already done everything that needed to be done for us to live abundant, victorious lives. He’s now waiting for us to present Him with any prayerful requests we have, so He can fulfill them. He promises to answer all those who come to Him in faith. “And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear” (Isaiah 65:24). This is something we can confidently rely on.

To receive an answer from God, we need to bring Jesus into the equation. The world isn’t accustomed to acknowledging Jesus, because it doesn’t even know Him. Therefore, most people don’t get the results they want. However, mentioning Jesus’ name gets the Father’s attention. “…Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full” (John 16:23, 24).

The Word of God is something we all need on a daily basis; a Word from God brings us joy and peace. The world may be full of answers to our questions, but not all of them are the right answers. Hearing from God after we’ve prayed about something gives us confirmation and clarity. Answers from Him always cut through the confusion and give us revelations we didn’t have before. “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not” (Jeremiah 33:3).

Often, God’s answer to us will be channeled through the Holy Spirit, who will speak to us what He hears from the Father. Having faith that He’ll tell us exactly what God says puts us on the right frequency to hear from Him.“However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come” (John 16:13, NKJV). We may not understand something with our logical minds, but trusting in what the Holy Spirit says to our spirits allows Him to lead us to the right solution to our situation.

Our response to trouble should be based in faith in what Jesus made available to us, prior to our need and independent of our own efforts. Trusting that God not only has the ability but also the will and desire to give us exactly what we need, when we need it, connects us to the finished works of Jesus. “And whatever you ask for in prayer, having faith and [really] believing, you will receive” (Matthew 21:22, AMPC). Faith is an open door to reality, believing that we’ve already received what we asked God for causes its manifestation in our lives.

Faith in God’s love for us, and in His willingness to answer us when we call, determines the results we see. As His children, we have every right to hear from Him. When we do, we have hope for the future.
