God’s Life-Changing Love

Love is vitally important to us as human beings. Without it, we can lose hope. When we don’t feel loved or accepted, we begin questioning our own worth. However, knowing how much God loves and values us completely turns everything around.

The mind is more powerful than we realize; our mindset determines what we do, and ultimately, the direction of our lives. What we expose ourselves to influences how we think, and how we think determines how we feel. How we feel determines our decisions, and our decisions determine our actions. Factoring in God’s love for us gives us hope and makes life worth living. “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord”(Romans 8:38, 39, NLT).

What we expose ourselves to can lead to either right-believing or wrong-believing. Exposing ourselves to God’s Word reveals that accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior makes us righteous, no matter how many mistakes we make.“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness”(Isaiah 41:10). Studying the Scriptures to develop a relationship with Christ allows Him to work in our lives like no one else can.

Feeling like we’re not valued can lead to self-hatred, low self-esteem, and a negative self-image. However, no matter how poorly we may think of ourselves, God’s relentless love is always there for us. It’s completely unlike the conditional love found in the world. Even when we’re running from Him, His love actively pursues us, embraces us, and refuses to let us go. “…For He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]”(Hebrews 13:5, AMPC).

Too many people think God hates them; this belief affects not only how they think, but how they lead their lives. Not only does God love them, He is love. “And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him” (1 John 4:16). Hate is simply not His nature. He knows everything we’ve ever done, and He still accepts us unconditionally.

God wants to rescue us from despair and loneliness. He’s willing to shout from the rooftops and let everyone know how He feels about us. “The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing”(Zephaniah 3:17). He’s wildly, excessively in love with us; having a relationship with us, His beloved, fills Him with great joy. Accepting His love electrifies our lives and changes everything for the better.
