Confessions That Deliver from Debt

The world has warped ideas about money. Most people take a hit-or-miss approach to managing their financial resources and learn from their painful, expensive mistakes. There’s a widespread lack of understanding about wealth, and debt is accepted as a normal part of life. However, a deep study of God’s Word reveals this isn’t His will.

The people around us are trapped in a “don’t have” mindset and therefore speak out of a place of lack and insufficiency. However, our confessions carry amazing power. The finished works of Jesus Christ have made available to us the ability to speak into being what we don’t yet see in our lives. We’ve been given words of faith we can load into our mouths and declare, similarly to firing a weapon. “But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise… But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach” (Romans 10:6, 8).

God doesn’t want the believer to be broke and poor; debt isn’t in His plans for us. What we believe eventually comes out of our mouths, which is why it’s so important to plant the right seeds of belief in our minds. Trusting God on this always gives us breakthrough when we’re willing to confess the truth found in His Word. “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). God wants us to be rich not just financially, but also in wisdom that we can apply to every other area of our lives.

Most Christians who are defeated in life are defeated because they believe and confess the wrong things. Specifically, they don’t think that speaking God’s Word can make a difference. They should avoid saying things that the world says; these are the things that caused their problem in the first place and that keep them in financial bondage. You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours(Psalm 128:2, NIV). These are the type of words we should be believing and confessing.

Words are the most powerful things in the universe. Our words have the power to either help or hurt us; Christians who fail don’t understand this. Whatever we believe and have confidence in is the thing that we say; this is how we release our faith in God’s Word. In light of this, it’s essential not to let unbelief pollute our faith. “And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you” (Matthew 17:20).

Constantly struggling financially can have a destructive emotional effect over time. When the bills pile up and the money just doesn’t cover all the expenses, we can feel discouraged and sick at heart. Thankfully, when debt threatens to destroy us financially, confessing the Word activates a greater power that delivers us. “He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions” (Psalm 107:20). Jesus, who is the Word, wants to get involved in our finances and turn things around.

We have the authority to move mountains in our lives, whether they’re mountains of debt or other seemingly unmovable obstacles in our way. It all starts with our words. Unleashing them elevates us to a higher level.
