Conquering Apple Pie!

Everyone knows how I feel about apple pie. To say I love it would be an understatement! Just the smell of warm, freshly seasoned Granny Smith apples nestled comfortably in a flaky, flour crust, does something to me. Especially when it's picture perfect, with a hearty scoop of butter pecan ice cream on top!

Yet, I've had to train myself to only indulge in the special treat of apple pie on rare occasions. Not because I don't absolutely love the scrumptiously, mouth—watering creation, but because in order to honor my temple, I've got to embrace a healthy lifestyle, which includes exercise and healthy eating.

My confession has always, and continues to be, that I will live at least 120 years. Although I confess that daily, I've learned that my lifestyle must mirror what I believe. If I want to live 120 years, I've got to make some adjustments. Nothing just happens! As Christians, we have to decree a thing in order for it to be established—we decide what will and won't happen in our lives.

Okay, back to the apple pie. Mrs. Smith's apple pie is probably one of my favorites, but there's nothing like Mama's homemade pie. Recently, while I was visiting my mother, she was making an apple pie, and I was tempted to eat the whole thing. Just watching her cut the apples and douse them with sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg, was almost enough to make me say, I quit living healthy. But thank God we're never tempted above what we're able to handle, and that with the temptation He always provides a way of escape. Just as the pie was coming out of the oven, my daughter called me to pick her up from school. Thank you Jesus!

When we get the unction to do anything that will strengthen our relationship with God, whether it's physically or spiritually, we're going to encounter resistance. That's the enemy's way of attempting to get us to release our convictions. Yet, with a made up mind and a spirit that's grounded in the Word of God, we can prevail over the temptations of our flesh. I'm proud to admit that I have conquered apple pie, and lost nearly 35 pounds!

I encourage you to take a decisive look at your life and begin to decree the things you want to come to pass. Whatever you want to happen, can! God gave you His very essence. You have His power, and as a result, you have the authority and ability to change any circumstance you face. So do it today! Trust me, if I can conquer apple pie, you can conquer anything!
