The world may not understand the act of giving, yet it’s an important part of being a powerful and influential Christian. It demonstrates selflessness the way Jesus teaches us, but the right attitude is necessary to do it properly. When we give generously and out of gratitude for what God has done in our lives, we can effectively be a blessing to others. Financial giving may make some people uncomfortable if they’re trapped by worldly influences, but knowing how God’s grace toward us affects our finances puts it in the right spirit.

God gave us the perfect example of how to give generously and freely when He gave us His Son. He did this out of love and compassion for us, and this love and compassion should be what motivates us to give. Money is simply a tool to accomplish God’s work. Loving Him more than wealth frees us from any fears holding us back from giving.

When we meet people whose fears trap them into trusting money more than Christ, we can pray for spiritual understanding for them in this area. We don’t need to be afraid to give because God promises to take care of us in every area, including our finances. The result of acting in faith is abundant blessings. When we see people who give out of guilt or a sense of obligation, we can be an example to them through our joyful giving.

As Jesus’ followers, we are servants just as He was. Sowing into others’ lives demonstrates the heart of a servant. Financial giving proves we can trust God. The heart of the issue is trust, not money.

Prayer:

Lord, You sent Your Son to minister to us in the area of finances. You love us too much to let us be fooled by the enemy’s lies. Thank You for telling us the truth about money. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
